This is a scenic design for Ragtime (music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, book by Terrence McNally). The overall goal of this design is to convey the unrelenting pull of time. I was inspired by futurism, an art movement that peaked during the turn of the century, when Ragtime takes place. The art movement worked to represent movement through shapes and patterns, something I mimic in the paint treatments. Also featured are multiple abstract clock sculptures and several rising platforms on the thrust.
